The Croatian Competition Agency (CCA) has approved the acquisition of Lonia Trgovina by Studenac. The planned acquisition represents a horizontal concentration on the retail market of mixed goods, mostly food, beverages and sanitary products, in the town of Zagreb and in the counties of Zagreb, Sisak-Moslavina, Bjelovar-Bilogorska, Pozega-Slavonija, Brod-Posavina, Karlovac, Varazdin and Koprivnica-Krizevci, where following the acquisition, Studenac will take over the store positions of Lonia.
Since takeover in 2018 by Enterprise Investors PE, Omis-based Studenac has been expanding its network in Croatia through M&A, bringing the total to almost 750 stores, on more than 500 locations. With acquisition of Lonia Trgovina, it would be the biggest acquisition for Studenac, adding almost 300 stores and expanding its network to more than 1,000 stores.
